Friday, 12 June 2009 21:43 by Admin

We are exapnding our office and require three different types of office chairs. These being executive chairs, typist chairs and visitor chairs. Can you suggest what we should look out for? My boss has indicated that Australian standards are required.

Good Afternoon Vitina,

Firstly I would like to thank you for your recent enquiry regarding our range of chairs.

I understand that you require  Executive Chairs,  Typist Chairs and Visitor chairs.

Office chairs should adhere to Australian Standards. Strictly speaking Australian Standards do not exist in regard to office furniture and office chairs. An organisation called AFRDI do test chairs and rate them in levels. Most government organisations and schools for example would ask for chairs rated to the highest level being level 6. Where possible I have included chairs to this standard and I have highlighted them appropriately.

Executive Chair Suggestions :

Often the problem with many executive chairs is that they have a lot of style however lack in ergonomic function. The reason for this is that many executive chairs are built in what we call a “one cast shell”. This type of chair does not have as many adjustments to allow the user to “mould” the chair to their liking.

What this means is that for people sitting in this type of chair for less then perhaps 3 hours the chair as a “one cast shell” will be perfect. If the executive or manger is in the chair for longer though these chairs may create a lack of comfort over the whole day as the chair can’t be adjusted.

Below I have chosen chairs that both look like executive chairs but still have the full 3 lever ergonomic function that most typist chairs have.

Option A) M1 Mesh Chair shown by link at : www.thebarn.com.au/p-66-m1-mesh-back-chair.aspx

The M1 Mesh Chair allows for a full ergonomic movement and has a unique mesh backing. The mesh backing is particularly comfortable and also breathes which is great during summer.

Option B) AC406 Executive Chair shown by link www.thebarn.com.au/...leather-executive-chair.aspx

For Executives or manager who are taller and would like a mix of both leather and a breathable fabric seat this chair is ideal. The higher back gives greater support to taller people and comes complete with a headrest.

Option C) Senator Chrome and Leather Executive Chair shown by link www.thebarn.com.au/...leather-executive-chair.aspx

The Senator is a luxury Executive Chair made from both leather and chrome. This chair does not have extra ergonomic levers so is best a chair of luxury, superior comfort and aesthetics for the shorter term user.

Typist Chair Suggestions :

To fulfil your requirement on Australian Standard Chairs (AFRDI) I have included applicable options.

For ergonomic benefit many would require typist chairs that do not have arms however as arms are required I have included chairs priced as having arms included.

Option A) Echotech www.thebarn.com.au/...tech-e350-medium-typist.aspx

This chair comes with a five year warranty and can be upholstered in any colour (some colours may see a small surcharge). This chair has the highest AFRDI rating of 6.

Option B) Egress Typist Chair shown by link at www.thebarn.com.au/p-54-tl-600-typist-chair.aspx

This Chair is exactly the same as the TL600 and the exact same cost. This chair though has been fully tested to AFRDI level 6 and comes with a long 10 year warranty.

Visitor Chair Suggestions

    Here I would suggest visiting <a href="www.thebarn.com.au/c-16-visitor.aspx">http://www.thebarn.com.au</a>

Basically any chair that comes in fabric can be supplied in charcoal.

The idea with visitor chairs it to find a chair that serves required functions such as being stacking or with or without arms.

Balance the required functions with the right aesthetics for your room such as having a luxury chrome base versus a simple powder coated black frame.

Balance these ideas and you have you client chair.

It sounds like you're creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place

Hi,
Promotional items are also used in politics to promote candidates and causes. Promotional items as a tool for non-commercial organizations, such as schools and charities are often used as a part of fund raising and awareness-raising campaigns. A prominent example was the livestrong wristband, used to promote cancer awareness and raise funds to support cancer survivorship programs and research.

Collecting certain types of promotional items is also a popular hobby.
